A Busy Week From Pallatanga to Sucua

In eight days I moved to a new location attended five meetings and gave three public talks!

My last meeting at Pallatanga after Public Talk. It was not easy to leave, as it was I was planning to stay a couple of days which  turned out to be 6 weeks. I miss themDSC00439

The bus ride from Riobamba which is in the region of Chimborazo to Sucua was amazing. In parts the elevated road cut into the side of the ravine winds along a great river which you can see far below except for when you are passing through the tunnels cut through the rock. The river is wide, swift and powerful. As you pass along you cross many other powerful rivers all of them contributory's to the might river below. It is a spectacular sight to see many waterfalls plunging from the walls contrasting there pure white waters against the fine greenery that surrounds them. I am reminded of how I felt when I first discovered the Milford Sound which up until now had been the most beautiful piece of earth I had ever seen.

I arrive at Sucua and am greeted by my hosts for the next week. I soon learn that here in Sucua they care for many fields. In Sucua itself they have a sign group along with a shuar group. This congo also cares for two isolated groups which are in distant pueblos, Limon with 8 publishes and Mendez with 11. These two small groups hold all the meetings in there little towns. Others travel from Mendez to help out each week with meeting parts and the ministry. For this reason they have there public talk on a friday so brothers can help out here as well as in there own congo.

During the week I go field and enjoy working with the brothers. One evening I work along with the shuar group. (These are the native Indians who I believe had the talent of shrinking decapitated heads!) I for the first time see leaf cutter ants which also happen to be the biggest I've seen, Alex tells me they are quite small and that there is a winged variety that are huge and are a delicacy, I'm looking forward to September the season they appear to try them for my self, He also shows me a picture of a huge black hairy tarantula which he saw on the road we are walking from the week before.

On the subject of food I've recently eaten snails which are very large and also I have eaten a traditional dish which comprises of cat fish cooked inside a durable leaf upon hot coals.

On Friday I visited the Isolated group of Mendez for fields service and the meeting. Then on Saturday I go witnessing in the rurals with the Shuar group. Then in the afternoon I travel to Macas accompanied with 5 other young ones from Sucua to give a talk. It rained a lot that day, after the meeting on the way to a fiesta I got more than a little wet on the back of a taxi Ute but I didn't mind I soon danced my self dry.

Dinner after the meeting in Macas and before the fiesta. In this alleyway restaurant I feel like I'm eating at a construction zone. But the food was 3 b’s that is to say Bueno Barrato y Bonito.DSC06753

On Sunday morning I was giving the talk again in the Shuar Group and helped out with the Microphone during the Watchtower consideration. In the group they work very hard, they have no Watchtower in this language but someone translates and writes out the questions and sometimes some key words that can be found in the text.
