As you will see below history is everywhere. There are old buildings, monuments and statues after significant events in the history of Argentina and Buenos Aires and even the as you walk through the streets you cant escape the feeling that these dates are important to the Argentineans as even the street names are named after such dates. For example calle 9 de Julio or calle 15 de Abril, If you love history South America is a place you could immerse your self into and Argentina certainly is no exception.
I would love to go and see a show here, click on the link to see what it looks like on the inside or book a ticket to see a show!
When you visit Argentina you will love the fact that here the love food and especially meat. Some of the more popular styles of food I would say would be Italian and definitely Parrilla. (Meat roasted over hot coals) Some of these places will have live Tango Shows especially latter in the night. These places are not hard to find as they are all around the city and if you don't happen to chance upon a restaurant as you explore the city such as I did below you will no doubt smell to sweet odour of meat being barbecued and I believe I forgot to mention that if you want a beer with your meal you can get 950ml bottles that will certainly quench your thirst. People will often buy a bottle and share it between two which is the equivalent of about a bottle and a half, great Idea really.
Bellow Is an example of some meat being cooked around an open fire and hot coals. (If there are any vegetarians reading this you may want to overlook some of these photos, sorry for any apparent lack of sensitivity)
You will find this obelisk a great landmark for orientation as it is found at the intersection of 9 de Julio and Corrientes
I love the vehicles here they are so different especially the armoured Security trucks, they are like tanks.
You will see quite a number of phone booths with little pieces of paper stuck to the side. You will observe people going around sticking them on such places all over the city and offering them to passers by, ignore them. Later on the day others go around removing them.
Be very careful crossing the street as cars drive on the other side of of the road at may take some getting used to so it pays to look both ways. The hospitals here though I'm sure are more than adequate.
I found walking around and getting familiar with the immediate area about where you are staying is a very good idea as it give you a good sense of orientation and you will be able to walk about less like a tourist and more like a local who knows where he is going. As there is a lot of European influence here it is easy (even as a tall kiwi with red hair) to actually blend in. I have only been here a short while there is much to see and do the only thing is in city's your money will not go as far as in the pueblos, but having said that it is still much cheaper then in N.Z so if you have some spare money enjoy it!
