There are many markets worth exploring. Here is a photo summary of the Mercado Campesino.
Beer I safe to drink and in plentiful supply. I might add Tarija is a wine growing region so there is no shortage of wine either, in case you were wondering.
In each of these polystyrene boxes below you will find loads of fresh water fish. (Note the dogs also, they can be seen every where sleeping)

So that is the food market (there are markets way beyond the scope of food also so big I'm not even going to write about it you will have to go and see for your self), there is cheese, fruits, legumes and well nearly everything. Visit be inspired and unleash your cookery skills. Just because your in a third world country it doesn't mean you cant eat well.
Martin & Luisa from Altiplano Residential know this place well and come here regularly to collect ingredients for there culinary delights, the end of there shopping usually leads them to the flower stand for some fresh flowers to decorate the home.
