How the world has changed…no one writes any more

When was the last time you wrote a letter? Oh for sure there is no doubt you have typed a letter in the not so distant past (And thank you for the emails you have sent by the way, very encouraging) but when did you actually hand write a letter or for that matter receive such a written expression?

If you write or receive hand written letters chances are that you or your correspondent are….not so young or shall we say among the more mature of mankind. The way we communicate or the idea and principle of it is basically the same but the modern method and capabilities is vastly different! You can within a few moments instantly send and receive electronic emails, cards, videos, pictures and much more to the vast reaches of the planet! Yesterday I learnt that even emails are to some extent archaic as Facebook now supersedes emails, this is what the newer generation are using to communicate and keep in touch. We live in a world of Type, text and tweet!

All of that being said though, isn't it a great feeling to receive a hand written letter a.k.a snail mail? Is it the surprise? The anticipation? Is it the fact that the sender feels comfortable enough to scrawl his sentiments in a way less then perfect without the mask of type, spell-checkers or digital editing or is it that individual touch and personality that comes through. Perhaps it is simply because after physically travelling so far through so many places being subjected to so much… it actually arrives.

Anyways if it has been a while since you have received a hand written letter or you would just like one anyhow, let me know and perhaps I could put pen to paper and once more perform this ancient, but not yet lost tradition.
